Fred R. Hauser

Fred R. Hauser, age 92, of Ulysses, Kansas died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born July 9, 1919 in Kingman County, Kansas, the son of Alfred and Frances (Schwartz) Hauser.

Fred grew up in Kingman County near Nashville; and graduated from Zenda High School. After he graduated high school he worked for Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. On December 9, 1942 Fred married Mildred Ione Mangles. She died on October 19, 1986. Fred served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Metalsmith 3c from September 23, 1943 until January 2, 1946. In 1947, Fred moved to Grant County and farmed until his death. On August 18, 1989 he married Linda (Lynde) Neidert in Ulysses. Fred was a member of the Flying Farmers, former board member of the Grant County Airport Board, member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, NRA, Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79; and held a private pilot license since 1954. Fred also enjoyed hunting, fishing and scuba diving.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hauser of the home; son, Tom Hauser and wife Marieta of Johnson, Kansas; two daughters, Lynn Hill and husband Larry of Ulysses, Kansas, Jana Widener and husband Sam of Liberal, Kansas; three step-sons, Ed Neidert and wife Darla of Ulysses, Kansas, Bob Neidert of Ulysses, Kansas, Keith Neidert of Henderson, Nevada; step-daughter, Rebecca Neidert of Eatonville, Washington; foster son, Ron Hauser and wife Lana of Ulysses, Kansas; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mildred; sisters, Annetta Roberts, Alfreda Heller; brother, Aubrey Hauser, and infant brother, James Hauser.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Country View Baptist Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Sam Bynum officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with Military Rites by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Friends may call Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
