Roger Jack Britton

Jack Britton, age 62, of Ulysses, Kansas died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at his home. He was born March 20, 1949 at Pratt, Kansas, the son of Wilford A. and Mary Ena (Swindler) Britton.

Roger was a 1967 graduate of Ulysses High School and a longtime resident of Ulysses, Kansas. Roger served in the National Guard from 1969-1974. Roger spent most of his life involved in farming and agriculture. The past 12 years he worked in Dodge City, Kansas, for Black Hills Energy as a Gas Measurement Technician. Roger was a former USD #214 school board member, and was active in town team basketball. Over the past several years, Roger enjoyed spending time at Canton Lake and served on the Canton Shady Lane Board of Trustees as Secretary/Treasurer.

On August 25, 1968 he married Susan Lynn Hill at Ulysses, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include one son; Josh Britton and wife Sarah of Ulysses, Kansas; three daughters; Cara Britton of Ulysses, Kansas, Jenna Britton of Wichita, Kansas and Shan Meile and husband David of Ulysses, Kansas, his mother; Mary Britton of Pratt, Kansas, one brother; Larry Britton of Montrose, Colorado, one sister; Carol Jane Moore of Edmond, Oklahoma, and six grandchildren with one on the way.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Wilford A. Britton.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Bill Harrold and Pastor Gerald Mendenhall, presiding. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, Kansas. Memorials may be given to DuGood Events or Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Zion, IL in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, Kansas 67880.
