Phyllis M. Bromwell, 78, Liberal, KS, died Friday, December 30, 2011
at Morton County Care Center, Elkhart, KS. She was born August 10, 1933 in Liberal, KS, the daughter of Hugh & Gladys M. Hibler Harding.
Phyllis had attended Liberal Schools and worked at Liberal
High School Caferteria. She was a life member of the P.T.A.,
and long time member of the Straight-Rod-Reel Club. She loved
to camp and was an avid fishe-woman, loving to fish for anything,
anywhere.
She married John P. Bromwell on March 9, 1956 in Clayton, NM
and they enjoyed life together for fifty-five years, he survives.
She is survived by her husband John Bromwell, Liberal, KS;
four daughters, Diana Long and husband Melvin, Liberal, KS; Sharon Maerz and husband Brad, Denver, CO; Debbie Norwood and husband Mike, Colorado Springs, CO; Johnna Caldwell and husband Joe, Turpin, OK; four sisters, Bonnie Schenkel, Great Bend, KS;
Joy Elmore and husband Monty, Liberal, KS; Rose Hopewell, Joshua Tree, CA; Carole Lightle and husband Carl, Melrose, NM;
eight grandchildren, Teresa Long, Jason Long and wife Chris, Liberal, KS;
Johnathan, Nick & Amy Maerz, Denver, CO; Sarah Norwood,
Nashville, TN; Benjamin Norwood, Golden, CO; Mindy Caldwell James
and husband Kelly, Stillwater, OK; thirteen great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bob Harding, sister
Mary Louise Schupman.
A special thank you is given to Phyllis’ neighbors near her home on
Sycamore Street, St. Catherine’s Hospice and especially the Morton
County Care Center staff, who all were very supportive during her long
illness.
A memorial service celebrating Phyllis’ life will be held 11:00 A.M.,
Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Miller Chapel …………. presiding.
Inurnment will be in Plains Cemetery.
