Stanley Carl Fast

Stanley Carl Fast, 87, passed away December 30, 2011 at his home in Yukon with his family by his side. He was born September 20, 1924 in La Plata, MO, the son of Charles and Alta (Miller) Fast.

Stan graduated from Brashear High School in Brashear, MO. He attended University of Missouri in Columbia, MO and continued his education at the University of Oklahoma in Norman with various courses concerning gas measurement and cathodic protection/prevention of oil & gas well blowouts.

On October 8, 1943, Stan joined the Army at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He served with Battery B 601st Field Artillery Battalion, with stations in Italy and Central Europe, until his honorable discharge on March 10, 1946.

Stan began his drilling-production career with Hugoton Plains Gas & Oil in Tyrone, OK. He later worked for Anadarko Production Company in Liberal, KS as a Drilling Supervisor and was transferred to Odessa, TX with BTA Oil Producers. After which, he moved to Yukon as Drilling Production Superintendent for Moran Exploration. After a career of over 30 years, Stan retired. He was later employed by Central Elementary, where he was fondly known as “Stan the Man”.

Stan loved to read, fish, BBQ, and play golf, and was an avid sports fan. He played baseball with the Hooker Cardinals for over 20 years.

He was very active in the Church of the Nativity, where he was a member of the Vestry. He was instrumental in the founding of the Church of the Savior.

Stan is survived by his wife, Charlene Fast of the home; daughter, Tonya Lay of Flower Mound, TX; son-in-law, Joe Lay of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Cole Hubbard, Kaylee Lay and Carli Lay, all of Flower Mound, TX; and niece, Judy Welch of Gladstone, MO; and great-nieces, Kelly Hunt, Elizabeth Hall, Linda Ranson, Amy Rockey and Sara Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothy Hutchison.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care given by Platinum Home Health and Sooner Hospice, especially GiGi, Judy, Margo, Nancy, and their neighbor Amber.

Donations may be made in Stan’s memory to Sooner Hospice or the Church of the Savior in Yukon and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Church of the Savior in Yukon with Rev. Jeff Huston officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal, KS., directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.
