Hernandez Breaks Strikeout Record

Jakob Hernandez struck out six as Seward won game one 7-5 but dropped game two 15-5 at McDonald Stadium in El Dorado Friday afternoon. Hernandez has 124 strikeouts this season breaking Danny Vais’s mark of 119 in 2003. In game one, Chad Kennedy tripled in the fourth and scored on a Jared Biddy sac fly. Logan Nethercot lashed one of his three doubles to score two. Judah Sweat singled home a run. Butler scored three in the bottom of the third to make it 4-3. The Grizzlies took a 5-4 lead with runs in the fourth and fifth. The Saints grabbed the lead with three in the sixth when Nethercot doubled home a run and Sweat singled home two. In game two, the Saints scored two in the first for starter Adam Keller as Nethercot stayed hot with a homer to left center. Butler scored one in the first and two in the third to lead 3-2. The Grizzlies tacked on a run in the fourth to lead 4-2. Errett Edwards’ two out RBI double to left made it 4-3 and he scored later on an error to tie it at four. Butler quickly took the lead right back with a run in the fifth to lead 5-4 and that closed the book on Keller after five innings. Dylan Paul doubled and scored on a Tony Dorado Double to tie it at 5-5 in the sixth. Butler scored one in the bottom of the sixth to lead 6-5. They exploded for nine in the seventh to end the game after seven at 15-5. Seward is 24-19 and 13-9 and Butler is 18-25 and 7-15.
