When you think about names for softball players, you can’t think of a much better one than Venice Batts. Batts let her bat do the talking this week, crushing four home runs and driving in 12 runs to be named the Jayhawk West Co-Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Batts made the most of her six hits this week, blasting four home runs and picking up a double while driving home 12 in six Seward County games. She hammered her first long ball, a three run shot in a win over Garden City. Her second game two days later with another three run bomb against #10 Barton in a game in which she drove in five runs. In the Lady Saints last game of the week she cranked home runs numbers three and four on the week, driving home four and scoring four runs in a win over Garden City.
Batts and the Lady Saints hit the home stretch of their 2016 season this week, starting with a home doubleheader against Pratt at Lady Saints Field in Liberal on Wednesday afternoon.
