LHS Girls Overcome Turnovers for 2-0 WAC Start

The Liberal Lady Redskins hadn’t won in Garden City since 2009 and hadn’t won more than two WAC games since 2009. But as LHS head coach Carter Kruger put it, he is excited for his team but knows they have to get better. Liberal overcame 23 turnovers and won a rugged 38-31 game in Garden City Tuesday night.
Garden City led 8-7 after one quarter but LHS bolted ahead 18-12 at halftime. The Lady Redskins led 22-13 and 25-17 after three. The Lady Redskins led 28-17 early in the third before the Lady Buffs cut Liberal’s lead to four at 30-26. Garden was 0-10 from three point rangeand 6-14 at the foul line. Liberal was just 8-23 from the free throw line. Jada Mickens scored 10 but fouled out.
Liberal is 6-2 and 2-0 in the WAC and Garden City is 4-5 and 0-2 in the WAC. Liberal hosts Dodge City Friday night at 6 in the Big House with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
