Guymon Holds Off LHS Rally

The building was in a frenzy. Guymon clinging to a one point lead. Impressively, Guymon never trailed in a 54-50 win at the Big House in Liberal Tuesday night. Guymon has won five of the last six over Liberal, but they had to sweat it out.

The Lady Tigers built leads of 17-9 and 26-13 before taking a 33-17 lead into halftime as Sydney Hein swished a three pointer at the buzzer to give her 16 points at the break. LHS began chipping at that lead in the second half. Guymon led 42-29 after three before Liberal’s mad dash. LHS cut the lead to 50-49 with 2:18 to play and trailed 52-50 with .53.7 left but didn’t get another shot until a last second three was blocked with Guymon leading by four. Guymon’s Sydney Hein scored 25 and Brooke Arledge had 13. Liberal’s Diamond Bailey scored 13 to lead Liberal. LHS had 22 turnovers in the loss. The Lady Tigers have won five of the past six against Liberal. Guymon is 1-0 and LHS is 1-1.
