Richmond Takes Over Guymon on the Fly

KSCB News - August 17, 2015 7:31 am

It was a tumultuous first week in Guymon. Their coach Mike Taylor resigned officially before the first practice last week leading to some scrambling for Guymon officials. The school named offensive coordinator John Richmond the head coach on an interim basis for the 2015 season. He has his work cut out for him as Guymon. The Tigers have six wins the past seven seasons including a 1-9 season last year.

The Tigers have some promise with 75 out for football including a robust freshman football class of 35. The Richmond says his guys were active in the weight room this summer and his linemen are bigger than last year. He had about 41 of his football players in the weight room 90 percent of the time this summer. Guymon was young last year starting as many as 10 sophomores at a time.

Some of the key Tigers are Sr. WR/SS Matt Gallegos, Sr. WR/CB Baily Holman, Sr. C/NG Kody Alexander, Sr. WR/OLB Levi Padilla, Jr. WR Jovan Ochoa, Jr. WR/CB Garrett Danner, and Jr. QB Aaron Huckins.

Guymon will be featured during Sportsguys Monday morning between 7:37 and 9 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
