KSCB News - August 3, 2015 6:37 am

The Liberal Bee Jays defeated the Haysville Aviators 8-0 in seven innings and then learned they had lost there little spark plug. After the BJ ‘s won in convincing fashion, the team skipped normal post game protocol and instead went to a private spot near the batting cages where they learned nine year old bat boy Kaiser Carlile passed away Sunday after he was inadvertently struck by a bat from a practice swing Saturday. A somber crowd heard the public address announcement of Kaiser’s death before the last game of the day between El Dorado and Arvada. Haysville fans made signs of support and the Aviator bat boy wore a BJ shirt. Hutchinson Monarch volunteers raised money for Kaiser’s family. BJ players wore "KC" wrist band and had KC on their hats. A heartwarming evening after a heartbreaking weekend.

The BJ’s dominated by scoring in every inning but one. Brady Muller went the distance allowing just five hits against the Jayhawk League champs. Gavin Wehby singled and stole a base before Brent Williams singled him home. Cale O’Donnell smashed a towering home run to left to lead off the second. Micah Green lined a double to right center to score two in the third. Nick Brooks doubled to lead off the fifth and scored on a wild pitch. Brody Miller singled home the game winning run to end the game in seven innings.

Liberal has won 13 of 14 and is 35-17. They play the Seattle Studs for the first time since the 2010 championship game Tuesday night at 6 or 10.

You can make donations to Kaiser’s family on the BJ Facebook page.
