Williams Jayhawk West Player of the Week

After leading his Seward County Saints to a Jayhawk West Conference Championship last week, Seward sophomore catcher Brent Williams has been named the KJCCC Player of the Week.

Seward All-American Brent Williams came up big in the clutch for the Saints in the final week of the regular season. The Saints backstop hit .500 with 2 home runs and 11 RBI’s in seven Seward games. Williams had five multi-hit games on the week and at least one hit in six of seven contests. Monday against Butler Williams had three hits and five RBI’s in the Saints doubleheader sweep of the Grizzlies. Over the weekend against Barton he was on fire, collecting 11 hits in the series including a four hit game Saturday in which he blasted a pair of home runs.

Williams and the Saints will take the field again on Saturday at Brent Gould Field in Liberal as they host the Highland Scotties in a best two out of three series to kick off the Region VI Tournament.
