Ulysses swept Liberal’s softball team Tuesday in Ulysses. But for a program coming off a winless season, LHS head coach Hope Cox says her team played much better in game two. Game one was a complete melt down with Ulysses winning 22-0, but Liberal was more competitive in the second game losing 11-5. In game one, the Tigers scored 13 in the first. In game two, Ulysses scored two in the first and third before a five run fifth. Liberal used a much different lineup in game two. Cox credits Sandra Armendariz playing shortstop and making some key plays along with Hannah Chacon. Alize Tatum creamed a triple in the seventh to score two runs. Liberal plays at Hugoton Thursday.
