Fifth Ranked Red Demons Take Down Redskins

The Liberal Redskins finished with a flurry pinning their last two opponents. But it was much too little and too late in a dual with #5 class 6A Dodge City. The Red Demons beat the Redskins 51-21 Thursday night at the Big House on Liberal’s Senior Night. Liberal gained three wins on the mat and DCHS had one open weight. Liberal’s Juan Beltran won 5-4 at 120. Liberal’s Frank Sandoval won by fall at 220 and senior Sergio Borjas won his final matchup in the Big House. Second ranked Borjas beat the fourth ranked 6A wrestler by fall. Liberal finishes 2-2 in WAC duals while Dodge City is 3-1 second to 4-0 number one ranked WAC champ Garden City. The Skins compete at regionals in Ark City February 21 with Ark City, Andover, Andover Central, Goddard, Goddard Eisenhower, Bishop Carroll, and Kapaun.
