KC Piper Handles Shorthanded Skins

KSCB News - January 23, 2015 10:07 pm

It was a bad night to be shorthanded. Already without Kylan Thomas, Liberal’s leading scorer and rebounder Deladris Green didn’t play due to a nagging injury. Backup guard Austin Baird didn’t play due to sickness. Kansas City Piper made sure the Redskins were never a serious threat to win the game forcing 18 Angry Red turnovers in a 70-50 Piper win in the third place game at Spring Hill. Piper raced to a 30-18 halftime lead and led 49-33 after three. LHS actually cut the Piper lead to 11 (53-42) with 4:34 to play. Liberal’s defense was suspect all tournament allowing two straight lay ups. Tim Fitzgerald scored 18 and Kaiden Bigham scored 10. Liberal has dropped four of the last five and is 6-5 while Piper has won seven of eight and is 8-3. Liberal plays at Clayton Tuesday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
