kansas City Sumner’s quickness, athletic ability, and press gave Liberal fits Thursday night. The class 4A Division 1 Sabres of the Kansas City-Atchison League forced 21 LHS turnovers in a 63-45 win over LHS. The loss means the Redskins will play for third Friday night at the Spring Hill.Invitational.

Sumner for nine first quarter turnovers to lead 14-7 and led 28-25 at halftime. Liberal had chances to take the lead before half trailing jist 26-25 but LHS missed three free throws and a layup. The Sabres raced out to a 45-32 lead after three in a non competitive second half.

Hayden Coker led Liberal with 12 while Markalyn Eatmon scored his first points of the season and finished with 11.

The 6-4 Skins face Kansas City Piper Fruday night at 6:30 on 1270 and kscbnews.net. Piper lost to Blue Valley Southwest 47-45. Sumner (5-5) plays BVSW for the tournament title.
