It was the football equivalent of at blitz, and Liberal knew it was coming. Garden City plays a very aggressive trapping defense and Liberal struggled mightily against it. Garden City raced off to a mind boggling 14-0 and 20-2 lead on the shell shocked Redskins before pounding Liberal 57-31 Tuesday night in the Big House. Garden City’s Caleb Tramp led a three point brigade with four in the first half and 19 of his 21 in the first half as the Buffs buried six first half three pointers to take a 37-17 lead. Deladris Green scored 10 in the loss. It’s Garden City’s fifth straight win over LHS and seventh win over Liberal in the past eight tries.

Liberal is 5-3 and 0-2 in the WAC while Garden is 6-4 and 3-0. Liberal plays Spring Hill at Spring Hill’s tournament Wednesday, January 21 at 6:30 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
