Inclement weather caused LHS to scramble to get in a quality tennis tournament before conference play. Emporia graciously changed their plans and allowed Liberal to join in a dual they had scheduled with Lawrence Free State. The athletes participated in a format consistent with college tennis. Each athlete competed in two matches of Singles play and two matches of Doubles play. Liberal held their own with tough eastern opponents.
Individual results:
Buddy Buchanan won both singles matches and split matches in doubles play.
Mitchell Irby swept his opponents winning both singles matches and both doubles matches.
Carlos Hernandez struggled in both singles matches, but he did split matches in doubles play.
Payton Grant won both doubles matches and split in singles play.
Sergio Borjas won both doubles matches and split in singles play.
Ho Ho won two doubles matches but lost both singles matches.
Liberal travels to Colby on Friday, and on Monday they compete in the Western Athletic Conference tournament in Garden City.
