Triple the Pleasure for Saints Baseball
KSCB News - April 9, 2014 6:30 am
Frank Phillips didn’t pose many threats to Seward’s starting pitchers Tuesday. But when they did in the eighth, Seward turned a triple play to get out of the inning and help preserve a 7-1 Seward County win over a Frank Phillips team which is 16-4 in the WJCAC. FPC lined the ball at second baseman John Solberg who caught the ball before it hit the ground for the out and tossed to second and then first as runners had left those bases. The Saints win the game using their weekend starters to piece the game together. Austin King (2 innings), JB Olson (2 IP), Keenan Hall (3 IP), and Pete Macke (2 IP) all pitched well in the win.
The Saints pounded out 15 hits in the win led by Kevin Connolly’s 4-5 and Brent Williams 3-5 afternoon. Jake Fuller was 3-4 and Brandon Rix was 2-4 in the win. The Saints scored one in the first, three in the fourth, two in the seventh, and one in the eighth.
Seward is 23-17 and has won two of three against 23-13 FPC. The Saints host Clarendon Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Brent Gould Field.
