Local Women Recognized at Southwestern

On Saturday December 7, Southwestern College recognized the 2003-2004 Lady
Builder Basketball Team. This team was the first in school history to
qualify for the NAIA National Tournament. With a thrilling 2 point victory
over Bryan College, the Lady Builders advanced to the Sweet 16.
During the year, this team also set school records in points scored; points
per game, total free throws made, and team field goal percentage. The team
also set school records for most KCAC conference wins (15) and most overall
victories with 26.
Area girls on this team were 2000 HHS graduate, Aspen Ukens Balthazor , then
a Senior at Southwestern, And Nikki Nicholas Schadegg who was from Johnson,
KS. Lady Builder Coach Dave Denly and Athletic Director recognized the
girls at half time of the game with Friends University. Aspen is pictured
