Sorry Seventh Sinks Bee Jays

One bad inning. The Wellington Heat scored eight in the seventh in a 12-4 win over the Liberal Bee Jays Tuesday night at Hibbs-Hooten Field in Wellington. The BJ’s fall further into fourth place at 11-13 while third place Wellington is 14-11.

The Heat scored a run in the first but the Bee Jays plated two in the second. Zach Reding singled home Darrien McLemore and Tyler Floyd raced home on a wild pitch.

The Heat scored three in the sixth against starter Chad Nack who lasted six innings in a no decision allowing two earned runs.

Tanner Kirk lined a home run over the left field wall in the seventh to make it 4-3 Heat. The Heat exploded for eight in the seventh on five hits, two errors, two walks, and a beanball.

Texas Tech’s Tyler Floyd was 3-4 with a double while both UTA’s Darrien McLemore and Lubbock Christian’s Tanner Rainey had two hits a piece.

The same teams meet Wednesday night at 8 in Wellington on 1270 and kscbnews.net.

Hays beat El Dorado 18-3 El Dorado and Dodge City topped Derby 10-4 in Derby.
