Hays Hands Liberal the Home Ending Hammer

Liberal has come nowhere near their competition in the Western Athletic Conference to this point. Hays made that point clear Tuesday afternoon at the Liberal sun baked Liberal Softball Complex thumping LHS 15-4 in six and 22-3 in four. After losing at Great Bend Saturday 13-0 and 18-0 and 24-5 and 12-1 April 16 in Liberal against Garden City, LHS is well behind the WAC’s top teams. WAC teams have outscored LHS 104-13.
Tuesday on a 90 degree day with light winds and a 1 p.m. start, Hays won the first game 15-4. They scored two in the first and one in the second while LHS had one in the first and two in the second for a 3-3 tie going to the fourth when the Indians put up a seven spot and added five more in the sixth. Hays out-hit Liberal 18-7 and Hays had the game’s only error. Riley Hay was 1-2 with two RBI’s in the loss.
In game two, hit happy Hays had four in the second, six in the third, and 12 in the fourth. Hays out-hit Liberal 17-3 while LHS had four errors and Hays had three. Kaitlin Ralston wacked an RBI double in the loss.
Liberal is 6-8 and 0-6 in the WAC while Hays is 10-4 overall and 4-0 in the WAC.
