Saints Trio Makes All Region Team

Three of the sophomore members of the Seward County
Saints squad that led them to their third straight Jayhawk West
Championship in 2013 were honored by the NJCAA on Monday as it was
announced by league officials that Kaheem Ransom, Edson Avila, and
Jabari Peters were all named to the All-Region VI team.

Ransom was third in the voting for Region VI Player of
the Year and was a unanimous pick of the 1st Team by the league’s
coaches. The sophomore guard led the Saints in scoring at 16.5 points
per game this season and was 7th in the region in scoring in 2012-2013.
His 75 three pointers made this season were 5th most in Region VI and
his .377 shooting percentage from deep was 8th of the 23 schools in the
state.

Avila was also a 1st Team selection this season after
averaging 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game on the season which were
good for 3rd and 2nd on the team respectively. Avila also blocked 32
shots this season which led the Saints and was 9th most in Region VI.
His .580 field goal percentage this season was 4th best of qualified
players in the Region.

Peters was chosen to the 2nd Team following his only
season in green and white. The sophomore from Brooklyn, New York
averaged 12.8 points per game for Seward this season which was 2nd best
on the squad and his 2.2 steals per game led the Saints and was 2nd most
in the Region. Peters shot .750 from the free throw line this season
which ranked him 9th in the Region and is the 9th best career free throw
percentage in school history.
