Zollinger is Jayhawk West Coach of the Year

On the heels of their third straight Jayhawk West
Conference Championship, four Seward County Saints were honored by the
league on Monday with the release of their All-Conference teams. Head
Coach Bryan Zollinger won the leagues Coach of the Year award this
season, the fourth time in his six years at the helm for the Saints that
he has done so. Kaheem Ransom was named 1st Team All-Conference while
fellow sophomores Edson Avila and Jabari Peters were named 2nd Team
All-Jayhawk West.

Zollinger led the Saints to a 25-8 overall record and a
14-2 record in Jayhawk West play this season. The 14 wins were the most
by any team in the Jayhawk West since the 2002 season. Ransom finished
2nd in the league in scoring in 2012-2013, putting up 16.5 points per
game overall and 17.6 per game during conference games this season.
Avila, the Saints emotional leader, finished third on the team in
scoring at 11.4 points per game and was Seward’s second leading
rebounder at 5.8 boards per game. Peters was second on the team in
scoring at 12.8 per game, led the Saints in steals at 2.2 per game, and
was third on the team in rebounding at 4.1 per game.

Hutchinson freshman Kadeem Allen swept the Player of the
Year and Freshman of the Year awards and was one of two Blue Dragons on
the 1st Team. Barton also put two players on 1st Team to go along with
Ransom.
