Losing at Garden City isn’t surprising. The Buffaloes are #5 in 6A and enjoying a winning season after three straight losing seasons. The Buffs were coming off two straight losses and playing at home on senior night. But Liberal head coach Drew Gruver was more concerned about his team who in his estimation, didn’t play with the effort necessary in a 63-34 loss at the Garden.

Garden shot their fair share of layups in the first half as Garden’s guards gashed Liberal with deep dribble penetration. The Buffaloes (13-7, 4-4) led 18-11 after the first quarter, 32-17 at the half, and 47-28 after three quarters.

A couple of bad habits reared ugly heads Tuesday. LHS was 9-24 from the free throw line and committed 18 turnovers in the loss.

This is the first time since 2006 the Buffs have swept the Redskins. Liberal falls to 6-13 overall and 2-5 in the WAC.

Liberal hosts WAC champion Dodge City Friday night at about 7:45 in the Big House for Senior Recognition on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
