Using a great team effort on defense, the Liberal Redskins gained their first WAC win of the season Friday night. Liberal forced 22 Panther turnovers in a 47-39 win in front of a packed Panther Fieldhouse homecoming crowd. Liberal’s full court press gave Great Bend’s back court fits all night.

Liberal led 12-6 after one quarter and led by 13 (21-8) in the first half. The Skins led 24-14 at halftime. A Blake Stout three pointer gave LHS a 31-14 lead in the third quarter and the Skins maintained a 36-20 advantage after three.

William Ross and Trenton Hammond led a balanced attack with 11 points a piece. Stout added nine as Liberal gains their third straight win at Great Bend. The Panthers fall to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in the WAC. The Redskins are 4-11 overall and 1-3 in the WAC.

The Redskins play at Guymon Tuesday before returning to WAC play Friday at Hays. Those games air on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
