USD 480 Board of Education Meets

The USD 480 Board of Education met Monday night at the Education Service Center.

Sally Cauble from the State Board of Education made a presentation on the H1N1 virus and how the school district can contain it if it were to hit Liberal schools. Cauble also discussed AYP scores in the state of Kansas.

There were only three action items on the agenda. The first was the consent agenda which the board voted to approve. This included food service bids and a building fee waiver of the building rental fee for James Maskus Auditorium on September 26, for a Community Dance Performance.

On April 27, of this year the board voted to approve classroom additions for Liberal High School. On Monday, the board voted to approve a choice of a construction company for the classroom additions at Liberal High School. The board on Monday chose the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $960,000.00 with Hutton Construction for the construction of four classroom additions to be located at Liberal High School with the guarantee that the substantial completion date is no later than January 25, 2010.

The board also approved classified employment, resignations, and transfers.

The Board of Education will next meet on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Education Service Center.
