Two Bee Jays Make All Jayhawk First Team

A Bee Jay catcher and a closer were the only Liberal players named to the all Jayhawk League first team. Wichita State’s Tyler Baker and Coffeyville’s John Branum both made the first team while Wichita State’s Dayne Parker, UTA’s Derek Miller, and UTA’s Chad Nack made the second team.

Parker led the Bee Jays with 17 doubles and tied for the team lead with four triples. The Wichita State catcher from Topeka hit .248 with three homers and 33 RBI’s.

Branum, a side arming closer from Rockwall, Texas made the first team as a pitcher after five saves and a 2.70 ERA.

Roff, Oklahoma’s Dayne Parker made the second team at shortstop after hitting .341 with four homers and 34 RBI’s. Parker also hit 12 doubles.

Outfielder Derek Miller of Round Rock, Texas hit .343 with a homer and nine RBI’s for the Bee Jays.

Pitcher Chad Nack was the Bee Jay ace with a record of 5-2 and a 1.84 ERA after logging a team leading 63 and two thirds innings. The right hander from Sanger, Texas struck out 43 and walked 17.

The Bee Jays finished 30-17 overall and 19-15 in the Jayhawk tied for second with Dodge City and trailed league champ Hays.
