Liberal Corrals Mustangs in Opener

Southwestern Heights has been one of the top teams in the area in all classes in volleyball. Julie Tucker’s teams are 248-72 in nine years and the Mustangs were 38-3 last year. But they appear to be in rebuilding mode in 2012 as Liberal brushed aside Southwestern Heights (25-15, 25-18, 25-21) Tuesday night in the Big House. LHS head coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen says her team played well defensively but needs to improve offensively. Liberal plays at Garden City against Great Bend at 5 p.m. and GCHS at 6 p.m. Thursday night.
