Skin Scrimmage Short and Sweet
KSCB News - August 25, 2012 6:35 am
Liberal held their annual football scrimmage Friday night at the Cornelsen Sports Complex. With light rain and lightning in the distance, the scrimmage wasn’t lengthy. The varsity offense played 20 minutes and moved the ball with ease against the number two defense. Quarterback Britton Abbott ran for two touchdowns and hit Trenton Hammond for a TD as Hammond sprinted away from the pack. With Ulysses coaches in attendance, Abbott and Hammond will surely be marked men in the Tiger locker room based on the way they played Friday. The number one defense took the field for a few snaps before approaching lightning cut the scrimmage short.
And maybe most importantly the Redskins got through the scrimmage injury free. They only have about 60 out for football, so depth is a concern.
The freshmen began the scrimmage and it was apparent quarterback Jared Hasik will be a handful for defenses this fall.
KSCB’s Redskin football coverage ramps up next week. The Rowdy Crowd Show with Cliff Abbott begins Thursday night at 5:30 at Billy’s and on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. Friday night, it’s Coach Speak at 5 when we talk with area coaches before the Redskin Pre-game show at 6 and the Ulysses at Liberal game at 7.
