Texhoma Coach Encouraged by Experience

KSCB News - August 23, 2012 1:20 pm

In his first season as head coach, Aaron Witten’s Texhoma Red Devils won the district and a playoff game in route to a 7-5 season. The scary part for the rest of Class A football teams in the Panhandle and northwest Oklahoma is that Texhoma should be even better this season. Texhoma returns eight starters back on both sides of the ball from a team which went 6-1 in the district last season. The Red Devils have 27 out for football.

Bryson Beattie is named first team all state in Vype Magazine. He rushed for over 2,700 yards and scored 20 touchdowns last season but is named an all state player in the magazine as a safety. Witten says senior quarterback and cornerback Jack Powers is the team leader. Senior lineman Henry Lehr, senior tight end and linebacker Brandon Gipe, and senior running back and linebacker Chance Meyer are other key Red Devils.

Texhoma only has nine games on the schedule and has a bye in week one. Witten was a guest during the Sportsguys Wednesday morning.
