High Hopes for Hooker Bulldogs
KSCB News - August 14, 2012 5:21 pm
Don’t blame the folks in Hooker if they have a hard time containing their enthusiasm regarding their football team. The Bulldogs won two games in five seasons and student apathy was evident at the Class A school. But last year, the Bulldogs broke through. Not only did they win five games (5-5), they advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 2002 under first year head coach Jake Kreamer.
This season, the Dogs return seven starters on offense and six on defense and appear to be one of the contenders in A-1 this season.
They are led by senior Joe Bean who is being recruited by FBS programs. Bean plays quarterback and defensive back and may well be a once in a generation type athlete at HHS. Junior Taylor McBee is one of the top running backs in the area and also takes his workhorse mentality to the defensive secondary. Other key Bulldogs include: senior wr/db Chad Kennedy; senior lineman Braxton Taylor; junior lineman Alex Juarez; senior wr Luke Arnold; and senior lb Augustine Barrios.
The Bulldogs were featured during the Tuesday morning Sportsguys.
