Seward’s new assistant coach has a unique view of the Lady Saint basketball program. Caitlin Demarest played against Seward as a member of the Dodge City basketball team. She says she remembers fans young and old let her team have it when they played in the Green House. Now, she returns to Seward where passion for NJCAA women’s basketball is second to none. The 26 year old from Albuquerque becomes Toby Wynn’s third ever assistant coach replacing Penny Jones who took an assistant coaching job at Weber State last spring. Demerest played for Jim Turgeon at DC3 in 2005 after a year at Cochise, Arizona and played for Steve High and Lane Lord at Pittsburg State and assisted former Barton coach Lane Lord at PSU. She also was an assistant for Tracy Anderson at Newman University in Wichita.
Demarest joins Wynn who is 187-46 with Kim Ortega for the first four seasons and Penny Jones the past three seasons. Ortega remains an assistant at UNLV.
