The Liberal baseball team made far too many mistakes to be competitive against Western Athletic Conference competition Thursday. Great Bend swept the Redskins 14-4 and 11-0 in two run rules.

In game one, Liberal pitching walked nine and beaned one paving the way for 14 Panther runs. LHS also committed four errors. Great Bend scored seven in the first, two in the second, and five in the third. The Skins plated three in the second and one in the third. Great Bend only out-hit LHS 9-8 but errors and walks helped the Panthers.

Great Bend’s Mitch Kottas pitched a one hitter against Liberal in game two. Liberal had three more errors giving them seven for the day. The Panthers scored two in the first, five in the third, and four in the fourth.

Liberal is 2-14 overall and 0-4 in the WAC with a double header at Garden City Thursday. The Panthers are 7-3 overall and 2-2 in the WAC.
