Liberal’s Pewthers Resigns as Wrestling Coach

Liberal head wrestling coach Mike Pewthers has resigned as coach of the program. He will remain a teacher at the school. Pewthers steps down to focus more on family and doesn’t feel he can give the program the attention it deserves.

Liberal High School athletic director Scott Hinkle says Pewthers was a first class member of the LHS coaching staff.

"Mike has been loyal, dedicated, and hard working his entire coaching career at Liberal High School. Mike always put a quality product on the mat, and will be missed. Mike will continue to teach at Liberal High School."

Liberal has not named a new replacement for Pewthers and will begin a search for his replacement.
