Struggling Great Bend Blows Out Liberal

In a season of pitfalls, this is the depth of it. Great Bend’s girls came in 1-13. That one win was 24-20 over a Larned team playing without their best player. But Friday night in the Big House, the Lady Panthers put it together in a 39-19 blowout win over struggling the struggling Lady Skins. It’s Liberal’s fourth straight loss but perhaps their most painful in a game they felt they could win.
It was not an entertaining first quarter as Great Bend led 5-4. Jai Chapman sparked Liberal to a 13-11 halftime lead. Great Bend held LHS scoreless in the third quarter taking a 22-13 lead. The Lady Panthers (2-13, 1-3) outscored Liberal 28-6 in the second half.
Liberal had 22 turnovers and went 2-13 at the free throw line. The Lady Skins are 2-13 overall and 0-4 in the WAC.
Jai Chapman led LHS with nine points.
LHS hosts Guymon Tuesday at 6 p.m. on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
