Tomlinson Tears it Up in Rookie Ball

Former Liberal Bee Jays and Seward County Saint Kelby Tomlinson showed great potential in rookie ball for the San Francisco Giants. Tomlinson hit .356 with two homers and was 11-11 stealing bases for the Giants rookie league team which played in Phoenix this summer. The Elgin, Oklahoma native played two weeks for the 2011 Liberal Bee Jays before he was drafted in the 12th round in June. Tomlinson was a guest during Thursday morning Sportsguys on Talkradio 1270.

Tomlinson hit .307 with one homer and 43 RBI’s for Texas Tech this spring. He was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List going to the top shortstop in college baseball. He hit .340 with one homer, 30 RBI’s, 13 doubles, and four triples for the NBC champion BJ’s last summer. The Elgin, Oklahoma native swiped 41 bases in 43 attempts. as a sophomore at Seward, Tomlinson batted .352 (87-for-247) with a school-record 90 runs scored, 13 doubles, six triples, six home runs, 30 RBI, 26 walks, only 19 strikeouts, and a .526 slugging percentage,
