Tomlinson Signs with World Champs

Following an All-American sophomore season at Seward County and an All Big-12 junior season at Texas Tech, former Saints shortstop Kelby Tomlinson has signed a contract with the San Francisco Giants and will report to Scottsdale, Arizona to begin work with the Giants Arizona Rookie League team later this week.
Tomlinson burst onto the scene with the Saints in 2010 when he hit .353 with 13 doubles, 6 triples, and 6 home runs while stealing 28 bases for Seward’s conference championship club. This season at Texas Tech, Tomlinson showed enough to become a 12th round draft choice of the Defending World Champion San Francisco Giants after he led the Red Raiders in hits and RBI’s while hitting .307 with 21 stolen bases. Not only did Tomlinson impress with the bat in his only season in Lubbock but the former Saint was a magician with the glove, going the final 24 games of the season without an error and committing just one error in Tech’s final 33 games of the 2011 campaign.
Seward County Head Coach Galen McSpadden said of his former shortstop "Kelby has worked had to get where he is at today. There is no doubt in my mind that he has the drive to work and get even better in this game. All of us here at Seward County are very proud of him and wish him the best of luck in his professional career."
