A No No Day for the Saints

KSCB News - March 28, 2011 7:26 am

Seward County Sports information director Roy Allen knew what could happen. After Seward swept Barton in Great Bend Friday, Allen talked with Seward head coach Galen McSpadden after the two impressive wins 6-2 and 5-3 Friday. He said tell the sophomores don’t let Dodge City happen again. He was referring to the 2010 season when Seward won two blowouts on a Sunday in Dodge City but then lost two blowouts at Dodge City on a Monday. There were similarities this weekend in Great Bend when Barton (18-13, 9-7) brushed the first place Saints aside 9-3 in game one and 12-0 in eight innings in game two. Seward didn’t muster a hit in game two as Barton’s Tayler Davis went six and one third innings with nine strikeouts and no walks. Seward is 22-14 overall and 11-5 in the Jayhawk West. Colby has moved into first at 7-3 after sweeping Butler in El Dorado. The Saints host Dodge City Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
