Comebacks Lift Seward Past Trinidad State

KSCB News - March 28, 2011 6:44 am

The Seward County Lady Saints waited until late to score
the bulk of their runs this afternoon at Lady Saints Field in Liberal in
their double header matchup with the Trinidad State Lady Trojans. In
game one Seward would score in the 2nd to take a 1-0 lead but would then
fall behind 3-1 after the Lady Trojans scored 3 times in the top of the
5th inning. Seward would then respond with 3 runs of their own in the
bottom half of the inning to take a 4-3 lead which would end up the
eventual final score in the Lady Saints win. Sydney Cicchetti would
strikeout 11 in the win while Leah Sitter and Taylor McDougall would
each collect 3 hits. In game two Trinidad would score in the 1st inning
and would get 4 more in the 4th and would hold a 5-0 lead over the Lady
Saints into the bottom of the 5th. Seward would get 2 runs back in the
5th before exploding for 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th to come away
with the 7-5 win. Blaire Taylor would pitch well for Seward in the win,
allowing just 2 earned runs while their offense would pound out 12 hits
including 2 each from Michelle Duford, Bianca Adame, Lynda Musick, and
Monique Lopez. The Lady Saints move to 24-7 and will continue their
homestand tomorrow, pending the weather, at 12:00 against #18 Western
Nebraska. (Roy Allen)
