After a week that saw them go 5-1 on a trip to Texas and
Arizona, Seward County Lady Saint sophomores Leah Sitter and Sydney
Cicchetti have been named the Jayhawk Conference’s Player and Pitcher of
the Week. Sitter earns her first Player of the Week honor after hitting
.409 in a 5-1 week for Seward. She scored 7 runs on the week and was a
perfect 8 for 8 in stolen base attempts, moving her to 3rd on the Lady
Saints All-Time list with 41. She had two hits in both games against El
Paso on Monday and also stole a pair of bases in each game. Against #10
Odessa on Thursday the Lady Saints centerfielder went 2 for 4 with a
double and 2 more stolen bases. Cicchetti was nearly flawless for the
Lady Saints this week. Seward’s sophomore ace was 4-0 with a 1.44 ERA
in 24 1/3 innings pitched. She picked up two wins on Monday as she
threw a complete game allowing just one earned run in game one against
El Paso and came in in relief of game two to throw 2 1/3 innings of 1
hit ball to pick up the win in that one. Thursday against #10 Odessa
she went all 7 innings of a 5-4 Seward upset victory while striking out
7 and walking just 1.
