Seward’s Tyler Hill gave his team a shot in the arm Wednesday. After a 16-1 loss when his team was hitless and allowed 18 hits, Hill took the ball in game two and helped pitch his team to a 10-6 game two win. Hill pitched five innings allowing three hits and striking out four with no walks. Hill left the game after five innings with a 9-1 lead. Hill was also 2-4 with three RBI’s at the plate. Tanner Rainey was 2-3 with a triple. Brittain Ibbotson was 2-3 with five RBI’s. The Saints plated four in the second and five in the third in route to the win. The Saints conclude a stretch of 12 games in six days. Tyler Hill says it was a positive for the Saints. "We played pretty well all break," the Arvada sophomore said. "I think it was good to go out and play that many games in a row. We have conference coming up so it was good to play a lot of baseball and get used to the conference. Our pitchers pitched well during the break and our hitting is starting to come around now. Everybody’s starting to step up now."
In game one, Lamar’s Artur Maltos-Garcia pitched two hitless innings before Joe Wahl pitched three hitless innings. Lamar scored four in the fist, followed by one in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth, and six in the fifth. Lamar banged out 18 hits.
The Saints are 17-11 while the Runnin Lopes are 18-9. Seward hosts Butler Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. Both of Saturday’s games will air on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. Sunday, we will carry at least one of the games which begin at 1 p.m. It depends on when KU plays in the NCAA Tournament if they beat Boston. If KU loses, both games will air on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
