A newspaper is reporting former University of Kansas athletic director Lew Perkins has landed a new high school coaching gig.

The Lawrence Journal-World reports Perkins will be assistant girls basketball coach at Bishop Seabury Academy in Lawrence.

His daughter Amy was the school’s director of admissions in 2007-2008.

Perkins retired from Kansas last year as a ticket scandal in the athletics department was unfolding and he was facing claims that he improperly accepted gifts.

Before coming to Seabury, he was athletic director at KU, Connecticut, Maryland, Wichita State and South Carolina-Aiken.

Academy athletic director Eric Nelson says Perkins can help the basketball team get better and provide advice to the school’s coaches. He called the decision to hire Perkins an easy one.

Perkins could not immediately be reached for comment.
