Lady Saints Get Back at Garden
KSCB News - February 24, 2011 7:18 am
Ashlynn Knoll doesn’t play like a freshman. The exciting part for the Lady Saint program is she is a freshman. The 6′ frosh from Happy, Texas scored a career high 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Seward’s 62-59 win over the Lady Busters Wednesday night in the Green House. Seward head coach Toby Wynn says Knoll’s ceiling is high. "Everybody can see what she is capable of," Wynn said. "If she can continue to progress and continue to develop the way she is going, then she has a really bright future."
The Lady Saints led by 10 (32-22) just before intermission and led 32-24 at halftime. Garden City took their first lead 57-56 with 3:18 to go and led 59-57 with 2:30 to play. When Kayla Thomas sunk two free throws with 24 seconds remaining, Seward took the lead back at 60-59. Two Knoll free throws gave the Lady Saints the three point lead. Knoll knocked down a last second desparation pass to secure Seward’s sophomore night victory for the two sophomores Morgan Skomal and Hannah Rotolo. Seward is 19-10 overall and 9-6 in the Jayhawk West. The Lady Busters are 15-14 overall and 5-10 in the Jayhawk West. Seward plays for fourth place at Butler Saturday night at 5:30 on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
