On Sunday, April 12, 2015 at about 3:30 p.m., officers conducted a search of a residence at the 400 block of South Calhoun Avenue after they detected the odor of marijuana. Investigating officers found numerous suspected marijuana plants growing inside the residence. The suspected marijuana was seized along with several other pieces of evidence related to the cultivation of marijuana. The 47 year old male resident was arrested without incident. An affidavit was forwarded to the Seward County Attorney seeking charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp.

During the investigation, evidence was discovered that identified a second suspect. On Friday, April 17th, at about 8:30 a.m., investigators served a search warrant at a residence at the 100 block of West Pine Street. Evidence related to the cultivation of marijuana was seized. The 47 year old male resident of the Pine Street address was arrested. An affidavit will be forwarded to the Seward County Attorney seeking charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp and intimidation of a witness.

The investigation of this incident is ongoing.
