On September 23, 2014, the City Commission approved $1.2 Million for Willow Tree Golf Course improvements to include a new and more efficient irrigation system, improvements to the tee boxes, bathroom repairs and other course improvements. The last major improvement to Willow Tree Golf Course was in the late 1970’s and the club house was added in the early 1980’s.
The City Commission is committed to improving Liberal’s quality of life through the City of Liberal Park and Recreation Master Plan for renovation and development of recreational facilities that can become a source of great civic pride, and have the potential of becoming one of the finest park and recreation systems in the State of Kansas, and also an economic draw from the region.
Examples of this commitment include: a renovated Light Park, a new Adventure Bay Family Aquatic Center, a new Leete Family Park, new and improved tennis courts, new multi-purpose courts, new soccer fields, a new skate park, a renovated skate park, a renovated shooting range, new pedestrian and bike paths, new adult softball fields, new youth baseball and softball fields, and the improvements at Willow Tree Golf Course.
