Mike Hargrove’s pep talk worked. The former Major League manager doesn’t often give pep talks during games. But with Liberal trailing 1-0 in the middle of the seventh, Hargrove huddled the team in front of the dugout for a pep talk. It worked. Liberal scored seven in the seventh and beat Dodge City 7-1 Sunday night at Brent Gould Field. Crowder’s Don Lisi (2-1) pitched seven scoreless innings for the win. USC’s Mike Greco gave Liberal a 2-1 lead with a two RBI single to right center. Oklahoma State’s Dylan Brown drove home two more runs with a triple off the center field wall. Lubbock Christian’s Tanner Rindels hit a two RBI double off the wall to score two more. The BJ’s are 9-10 in the Jayhawk and 16-13 overall. The A’s are 12-13 overall and 3-11 in the league. Liberal plays at El Dorado Monday and Tuesday nights at 7:00 PM on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net.
