Math, Reading Test Results May Not Go Public

KSCB News - April 14, 2014 11:36 am

State education officials say they are considering not releasing the results of state math and reading tests.

The annual assessment tests have been plagued this year with computer problems and cyberattacks, prompting some districts to delay or interrupt testing.

Deputy education commissioner Brad Neuenswander says test results won’t be used in any way if officials are concerned they might give an invalid picture.

Most of the problems have been corrected and as of last week, Kansas students had completed 218,140 of the about 600,000 tests. The tests are to be completed by May 16.

The results of the tests won’t be used to help determine such things as school accreditation or teacher evaluations, because this is a pilot year for the new tests.
