A Ulysses man was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred in Morton County Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Rafael Mata-Rodriguez, 45, was traveling southbound on K51, 7.3 miles north of Rolla in a 2007 Freightliner semi, when he left the roadway and entered the east ditch, turning over onto the passenger side.

According to the KHP, Mata-Rodriguez was transported to Morton County Hospital to be treated for possible injuries, where he was treated and released.

The trailer Mata-Rodriguez was hauling contained 560 head of feeder pigs, 176 of which were killed in the accident. The remainder were transferred to another trailer by Seaboard Farms and taken away.

According the KHP, Mata-Rodriguez was wearing a seatbelt.
