Law Enforcement Torch Run Kicks Off In Liberal

Approximately 50 ź??Specialź?ť Athletes took to the streets early Saturday morning in the 28th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. The ceremony kicked off at 8:00am wnen the torch arrived in Kansas from Oklahoma. The Kansas Torch was then lit, the National Anthem was sung by Herman Dillon, and then the First leg of the run began with Gary Walter doing the honors. The torch was passed from athlete to athlete, starting at Southwest Gas procceding north on Kansas Avenue, until it arrived at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School. From there the torch went to Gardan City, Dodge City, Pratt and is scheduled to arrive in Wichita on June the 5th. Annully the Law Enforcement Torch Run sees 750 athletes participate and has raised over $3.2 million in the state of Kansas for Special Olympics.
