KHP and OHP Join In On Seatbelt Crackdown

The Kansas and Oklahoma Highway Patrol will join law officers in six other states in a crackdown on motorists not using seat belts and child restraint seats.

The KHP, OHP and officers in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Missouri, and Illinois say officers will focus on seat belt usage and child passenger safety laws for 24 hours on Friday. The campaign began in 2010 and is called “Get Your ‘Clicks’ on Route 66” – the so-called Mother Road that once connected the states.

Troopers want to remind people that using a seat belt is both smart and is required by state law.
